How It Began
Nome Schoolhouse co-founders
The Nome Schoolhouse, built in 1916, was a cornerstone of education and community in Nome, North Dakota, for over five decades until it closed in 1970. When Teresa Perleberg and Chris Armbrust first saw the old building, they were struck by its potential and the rich history it held within its walls. They knew they had to save it. After years of dedication and hard work, they lovingly restored the schoolhouse and reopened it in 2021 as a fiber arts retreat center, event space, and boutique hotel. By preserving this piece of history, they’ve given it new life, and are excited to share it with you as a place of creativity, community, and inspiration.
