Hi I’m Marcy Blikre. This passion of basket weaving had a simple beginning - I signed up for basket weaving classes through Moorhead (MN) Community Education. Little did I know it would become more than a simple pastime! I have been weaving for over fifteen years and belong to the Headwaters Basketmakers Guild (Bemidji, MN). I attend several workshops each year to learn various weaving techniques and to get new ideas from the teachers and fellow weavers. As a retired educator, I love to teach basket weaving to those interested in this lost art form. A useful basket is one of beauty and purpose. I am drawn to weaving utilitarian style baskets using flat or round reed but will also use natural materials such as willow and birch bark. Each basket is distinctive in Size, style, Color, and presentation.
